2011 Tentative Overview
Overnight Adventure Camp - June 14-17
Kid's Horse Whispering Camp in Joseph, OR Work with ponies of all ages at the largest Welsh Pony breeding farm in the USA! Halter train yearlings and help put the first ride on a 3 year old! Camp out in a field and listen to the sounds of ponies. You're sure to see all kinds of wildlife. Beauty abounds on this private 80 acres. Family style breakfast and lunch with dinners out in cute downtown Joseph. Bonfires with stories and joke telling at night. Ages 9 and up. Ages 6-9 with a parent. $500/person. Summer Day Camp - Horse Whispering Lessons for kids!
Learn all about horses! The usual camp activities, like crafts and games, plus groundwork, trick training, and horseback riding lessons! Have adventures with trails, obstacles, grooming and bathing the ponies, equine care and management, and horse anatomy where you get to paint the ponies! Great introduction to horses! Ages 7-14 campers. Ages 15+ as junior trainers. Students ages 4-6 can attend, but there will be a $65 surcharge to allow us to arrange special buddy for them so they will have help. Students will be divided by age and experience. Use our horses/ponies or bring your own!
Camp takes place M/W/F, 9am-2pm. Cost is $295. Get 10% off if you sign up with a sibling or sign up for multiple weeks!
We already have kids signed up June 27th-1st, July 18th-22nd, July 25th-29th, Aug 15th-19th, and Aug 22nd-26th. These sessions are still available, but register soon!
Demos -
See the PonyPros in action! Watch kids ages 6-13 perform and be inspired to go out and play with your horse. Great for helping children of horse-lovers find their own horse passion and sending everyone home feeling alive and enthusiastic.
Trainer's Clinics
Learn how to create a program like ours! Come study with us for a weekend and leave with tools and techniques for instructing kids and ponies, fun PonyPros games and exercises, plus marketing materials for your business, video production skills, your own easy-to-update website. This clinic is also suitable for breeders, therapeutic riding programs, and 4H leaders. Cost $500. *If you really want to come but can't afford to, let us know. We'll try to make something work for you.
One-Day Clinics
9:30am-12:30pm, barbecue afterwards. Participants $50, Auditors $10/family.Saturday: Bombproofing, natural horsemanship, groundwork, obstacles, "sending" your horse, "drawing" your horse, building your leadership, creating connection and motivation, developing better timing and feel, understanding horse psychology and communication, lateral movements, intro to clicker training as requested.
Sunday: Seatwork exercises for better balance, dressage in-hand, correct rein aids, united movement, connecting to individual feet, long and low, collection, changing the elevation of the hips, suppling the sidebody, footfall patterns, balance, straightness, impulsion, halfpass and shoulder-in.
Multi-Day Clinics
9:30am-12:30pm, lunch barbecue, afternoon lessons and activities
Great introduction to the 3 elements of the PonyPros program - synchrony, migration, and play. We'll show you how to get in-synch with your horse/pony on the ground and under saddle, how to migrate on the trail to build contentment, and how to play to build charisma and enthusiasm. Participants $300-$500 depending on clinic, Auditors $10/family
Adult Horse Whispering Camp
Lots of fun! Yoga for horseback riders, horse photography, video review, natural dressage in-hand and under saddle, good food, interactions with horses of all ages and temperaments.Topics - Understanding how conformation affects balance, reading horse body language, learning to see what your horse sees, becoming aware of your body language and energy, postural alignment, suppleness in the saddle, clarifying the aids, communication, and leadership.
Schedule - Check in on Friday. Evening campfire discussion. Full day clinics Saturday and Sunday. BBQ Sunday evening. Review and wrap-up session Monday morning, ending in time for everyone to travel home. Cost $300. We will suggest a motel but participants are responsible for securing accommodations.
Kids Horsemanship and Adventure Camp
Lessons, training, and fun! Plus hiking, swimming, bike rides, knitting, beading, outdoor games, painting, trips to the lake, water balloons, camp fires, music, photography, videography, and trips to see baby foals! Overnight $999, Day $499.
Horse Camping and Trail Migrations
Hit the trails with PonyPros. Break up your month with an adventure in natural surroundings. You'll head home hot, tired, dusty, and grinning from ear to ear. Cost $50 for 1/2 day. $75 for overnight.
