Equipment by PonyPros

Here is the equipment we use and resources for obtaining it :)

Training Sticks

These are the only properly built kids sticks that we know of anywhere. Custom built to PonyPros specs. Email orders @ silverdollarqh.com Website Silver Dollar Tack Last we checked sticks were $28/ea plus s/h.

Our Recommended Sizing - Very important!

Silver Dollar sells a "kid's stick," but the length of the string is far too long and it is very difficult for kids to use. They will custom make them to these specs, but you must email the specs to them.

Kids ages 5-7: 2.5' stick, 3'3" string, 3" popper
Kids ages 8-10: 3' stick, 3'9" string 3.5" popper
Kids ages 11-13, or petite women: 3.5'stick, 4'4.5" string, 4" popper
Adults: standard 4ft stick

Cordura Bareback Pads

We have used a ton of different bareback pads and like these ones a lot. They don't slip around on the pony, they stay clean, they cushion the pony's back, and they don't make your legs hot in summer. However, be sure to order WITHOUT stirrups. It is not safe to use stirrups on a bareback pad. We recommend pony size with an 18" neoprene cinch for ponies up to 12'2h. The neoprene cinch is awesome. If you get a horse size pad for a stout 13-14h pony like an Icelandic, you'll need a 24-28" Western cinch, and Party Ponies does not sell cinches larger than 18". We aren't thrilled with other Party Ponies equipment but these pads are great. To order, email info @ partyponiesdiscounttack.comWebsite Party Ponies Discount Tack Last we check, pony size was around $40, plus s/h.

Fleece Bareback Pad

For winter, we highly recommend these fleece bareback pads. They are super cushy and the kids stick to them really well. They slip a tiny bit when you first get them but after that are ideal. We would ride in these year around if they were cooler in the summer. If you add holes, you can get horse size to fit a pony, but pony size is a little more compact. We recommend buying from Just For Ponies as they are much easier to deal with than Dover or State Line, and faster.

Peanut, 12-12'1h Sec B Welsh in a horse size pad with holes added.
