Miniature Ponies are great for our youngest students!

MiniPros learn all about grooming and handling ponies just their size. Thanks to our wonderful Welshes and miniatures, even kids under 7 can learn all about horsemanship. Young students enjoy special instruction tailored to their age-group. We do lots of games, obstacle courses, and learning through mimicry.

Lessons are generally half groundwork and half riding on the longe. Students learn to ride bareback first, helping them find a natural, balanced seat. On the ground, students learn to communicate with their ponies using body language. As students learn how horses feel, think, act, and play, they develop a wonderful relationship.

Students progress differently in their comfort-level with riding independently. We both encourage kids to ride off the longe and support them in doing leadline as long as they need to. Kids can learn to ride walk, trot, canter, and even jump on the leadrein. Most kids are ready to ride independently by age 7.
