Natural horsemanship is a means of interacting with a horse that is enjoyable for both horse and human. We never treat horses like machines. We treat our horses as equals and value their opinions. We want to know what their interests are, what their goals are, what they fear, what motivates them, what their favorite treats are, where there favorite place to be scratched is, and we use this information to help them reach their potential. Horses want to be self-actualized as much as people do. We take care of them and they take care of us. We pay a lot of attention to the horse's personality and try to bring it out. Horses with lots of personality are more fun to play with and try harder to make their people happy. Everything we do is centered around trying to have fun with our horse friends and cause them to love us as much as we love them.

Part of helping our horses to love us as much as we love them involves knowing what to ask and when to ask it of your horse, also known as Timing and Feel. Timing is the sense of when to do something, feel is the sense of what to do and to what degree.
